After earning his degree in landscape architecture, Johnson began working with the First Tee organization, overseeing the development of hundreds of facilities aimed at introducing young people to golf. His career advanced significantly when he joined the Arnold Palmer Design Company in 2006, serving as a senior architect and vice president, a role in which he contributed to notable projects such as renovations at Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Wexford Plantation, Spring Island, and Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
