About

Schneider began his golf architecture career by writing a letter to Tom Doak asking for a job; after being turned down, he spent five years traveling and working at world-renowned courses as a greenkeeper to learn the craft from the ground up.

Brian Schneider is a highly respected golf course architect and partner at Renaissance Golf Design, recognized for his expertise in both design and restoration. After earning degrees in the sciences, Schneider's passion for golf led him to pursue greenkeeping work at prestigious clubs like Merion, Pine Valley, Shinnecock Hills, and Augusta National, where he learned course maintenance and architecture from the ground up. He joined Renaissance Golf Design in 2002 by impressing Tom Doak with his dedication and deep study of classic courses. Schneider has played a major role in the creation and shaping of celebrated modern layouts like Tara Iti, Barnbougle Dunes, Cape Kidnappers, Sebonack, Ballyneal, and Streamsong Blue. As a leader in high-profile restorations, he has worked on iconic venues such as Hollywood Golf Club, Milwaukee Country Club, and San Francisco Golf Club. Known for his hands-on approach and creativity, Schneider is among the most widely traveled designers in contemporary golf.
