About
Carter Morrish worked with his father, Jay Morrish, on every Morrish solo-designed golf course after 1996, continuing the family legacy in golf course design.
Carter Morrish is an American golf course architect best known for working alongside his father, renowned architect Jay Morrish, during the latter part of Jay’s prolific career. In the mid-1990s, as Jay Morrish began designing courses independently after a celebrated partnership with Tom Weiskopf, Carter became a key collaborator on all new projects. The father-son team created several acclaimed courses, blending Jay’s vast technical knowledge and experience with Carter’s fresh perspective. Their portfolio extends to courses not only across the United States—including ventures in California, Texas, and Arizona—but also internationally, with projects in Spain, Canada, Australia, and Japan. Through their teamwork, Carter contributed to the evolution of classic designs with innovative features such as reachable par fours, a hallmark of the Morrish ethos. Notable collaborations include Tehama Golf Club in Carmel, Stone Canyon in Arizona, and Pine Dunes in Texas, all reflecting the duo’s commitment to strategic, aesthetically pleasing golf experiences.
