Craig Haltom is a golf course architect and builder known for his deep knowledge of classic links golf and his skill in golf course design and construction. Originally from Indiana, Haltom studied environmental studies and art while playing collegiate golf before pursuing a graduate degree in landscape architecture in Scotland, where he absorbed the traditions and nuances of links golf firsthand. Returning to the U.S., he joined Oliphant Golf, progressing from laborer and superintendent to project manager on major golf construction and renovation projects.
Haltom is widely recognized for discovering the land that became Sand Valley Golf Resort in Wisconsin, a project that sparked a renaissance in golf resort design away from coastal locations. He has been integral to the construction and ongoing development of Sand Valley, working alongside top designers and builders. Haltom’s portfolio includes significant renovation and new design projects primarily in the Midwest, with notable work at Lawsonia Links, The Club at Lac La Belle, and Prairie Pines.
