David Krause was responsible for the complete renovation of Valderrama Golf Club, helping transform it into the number one course in continental Europe and a Ryder Cup venue.
David Krause is a Canadian golf course architect whose career began in 1986 with Robert Trent Jones Senior at Valderrama Golf Club in Spain, where he was instrumental in transforming the course into one of continental Europe’s finest, later hosting the Ryder Cup. After this, he collaborated with legendary golfer Seve Ballesteros in the development of Pont Royal in France. In 1993, Krause established his own firm, Krause Golf Design, in Germany, and has since shaped or renovated numerous courses across Europe, with at least nine of his designs ranking among Germany’s top 50. Known for his innovative and player-centric approach, Krause’s projects span Germany and international locations such as Lithuania and Tunisia. He served as President of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects from 2009 to 2011, reflecting his leadership within the profession. A passionate player himself, Krause is recognized for blending strategic challenge with environmental responsibility in his work.
