About
Forrest Richardson decided to become a golf architect at age 12 and got his start after biking to Jack Snyder’s office to ask for advice—leading to a decades-long mentorship and partnership.
Forrest Richardson is a renowned American golf course architect based in Phoenix, Arizona, and currently one of the most influential voices in the industry. He began his journey in golf architecture at a young age, riding his bike to meet legendary architect Arthur Jack Snyder, who later became his mentor. Richardson studied golf course architecture in Scotland’s Fife Region and at the University of Dundee, immersing himself in the birthplace of the game. In 1988, he founded Forrest Richardson & Associates, a firm recognized for its innovative planning, new course designs, and thoughtful renovations. Over a three-decade career, he has worked on projects spanning 20 states and eight countries, including acclaimed courses like the Short Course at Mountain Shadows and Baylands Golf Links. Known for his adaptive approach rather than a signature style, Richardson has authored several authoritative books on golf architecture and served as president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects from 2020–2021.
