About
Fred Funk, considered one of the shortest hitters on the PGA Tour, co-designed RainDance National—one of the nation’s longest golf courses at over 8,400 yards.
Fred Funk is a renowned figure in both competitive golf and golf course architecture. Known for his precision on the PGA Tour, Funk clinched the 2005 Players Championship and has accumulated multiple wins on the PGA and senior circuits, including three senior major championships. His interest in golf course design began with a 2005 visit to Arnold Palmer Design Co., which set him on a path toward architectural collaboration. In the early 2010s, Funk worked alongside architect Harrison Minchew to co-design RainDance National in northern Colorado. Unveiled in 2022, RainDance National immediately garnered attention for its extraordinary length—over 8,400 yards from the back tees—making it one of the longest courses in the United States. Funk’s passion for golf, paired with his detailed understanding of the game’s nuances, has helped shape his architectural vision, marrying strategic playability with bold, modern layouts.
