About

Hansgeorg Borbonus honored his late son by building the Freedom Golf Course and organizing an annual memorial tournament benefiting local non-profits.

Hansgeorg Borbonus is a prominent golf course architect and landscape visionary best known for his transformative contributions to Idaho's golfing landscape. As the creative force behind Falcon Crest Golf Course in Kuna, Idaho, Borbonus began developing his vision in the late 1980s, gradually converting 480 acres of alfalfa and sheep pasture into one of the region’s premier golf destinations. Utilizing his skills as an award-winning gardener and owner of Cloverdale Nursery, Borbonus incorporated local heritage into the course design, integrating architectural features from around Boise. Falcon Crest, opened in 2000, was constructed meticulously, often one hole at a time, reflecting Borbonus's commitment to showcasing the natural beauty of the Treasure Valley and ensuring a layout harmonized with its surroundings. His ongoing influence extended across the Boise area, including projects at Katheryn Albertson’s Park, Crane Creek Golf Course, and Hillcrest Country Club. Borbonus’s legacy is further marked by his dedication to honoring his late son and supporting the local community through golf.
