About

Minchew served as Arnold Palmer’s lead golf architect for the unique King & Bear course, the only collaboration between Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, designed for the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Harrison Minchew is a renowned American golf course architect who grew up immersed in the sport in Augusta, Georgia, where he learned the game on a Donald Ross–designed course. A lifelong passion for golf led him to earn a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia in 1979. Minchew is best known for his decades-long career at Arnold Palmer Design Company, where as senior architect, director of design services, and vice president, he contributed to the design of over 140 golf courses worldwide. His collaborative work with golf legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Fred Funk deeply shaped his design philosophy, emphasizing memorable, fun, and environmentally sound courses. In 2008, he founded Harrison Minchew Golf Course Architecture in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, bringing a 'team approach' to his practice. Among his most notable projects are the King & Bear at World Golf Village (a Palmer-Nicklaus collaboration), Tradition Golf Club, PGA West Palmer Course, and Champions Retreat in Georgia, now used for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
