Jim Colbert is a highly respected figure in American golf, recognized both for his achievements as a professional player and contributions as a golf course architect. Born in 1941 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Colbert achieved runner-up status at the NCAA Golf Championships while at Kansas State University, later joining the PGA Tour in 1966 and securing eight tournament titles. His successful transition to the Senior PGA Tour saw him win 20 events, including the Senior Players Championship in 1993, earning the title of Senior PGA Player of the Year in 1995. After retiring as a competitor, Colbert founded Colbert Golf Design & Development. His most notable architectural accomplishment is the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas, created in partnership with Jeff Brauer. Opened in 2000, it is regarded as one of the top public courses in the region and serves as the home for Kansas State golf teams.
