About
Leonard is one of only five golfers ever to win the U.S. Amateur, the NCAA Individual Championship, and a major championship in their career.
Justin Leonard is a celebrated American professional golfer whose career has spanned nearly three decades. Born in Dallas, Texas in 1972, Leonard first made waves as an amateur, winning the 1992 U.S. Amateur and capturing the NCAA individual title in 1994 for the University of Texas. He quickly transitioned to professional golf without attending Q School, a rare feat achieved by only a handful of players. Leonard has twelve PGA Tour victories, highlighted by his triumph at the 1997 Open Championship, and he famously helped secure the U.S. victory at the 1999 Ryder Cup by sinking a memorable 45-foot putt. Known for his competitive spirit and consistency, Leonard has later contributed to the game as a golf course architect, as well as an on-air golf analyst for NBC and Golf Channel, bringing his insight and expertise to new generations of golf enthusiasts.
