About

Kurt Rossknecht was inspired to start playing golf and pursue golf course design after renowned architect Donald Harradine told him that success in the field required being a golfer.

Kurt Rossknecht is a prominent German golf course architect whose career has significantly shaped golf landscapes throughout Central Europe. After studying landscape architecture at the Technical University of Munich from 1975 to 1980, he made golf architecture the focus of his diploma thesis. In 1979, Rossknecht founded his own firm, Golf- und Landschaftsplanung Kurt Rossknecht, later establishing Rossknecht Golfplan GmbH in Lindau in 1993. Early in his career, a pivotal encounter with golf architect Donald Harradine inspired him to take up golf, believing it essential for authentic course design. Rossknecht's approach centers on integrating courses with the natural landscape rather than imposing upon it, leaving a lasting, recognizable signature on his projects. He has designed and remodeled dozens of courses, including the expansion of Golfpark Zürichsee and collaborations with golf legend Bernhard Langer, notably at Bad Griesbach. His courses are known for their strategic variety and harmony with nature, earning recognition from both recreational golfers and professionals.
