Michael Asmundson was a respected golf course architect and landscape architect with a legacy spanning many projects in the United States and South America. He designed the back nine (called the Forest Nine) of the Discovery Bay Golf Club in Port Townsend, Washington, which opened in 1997. He later owned the club and was deeply involved with the property until his passing in 2020. Another notable design of his is The Home Course in DuPont, Washington, which opened in 2007 and has been ranked among the best public golf courses in Washington state. Asmundson’s career reflected a deep commitment to integrating golf course design with the natural landscape, successfully blending playability and environmental stewardship.
