About

Steve Weisser studied historic golf courses across Britain while working with Hawtree Limited, the world's longest continuous golf course design practice.

Steve Weisser is a seasoned American golf course architect and Vice President/Senior Designer at Rees Jones, Inc. A native of Austin, Texas, Weisser has been an avid golfer since childhood and pursued formal training in Landscape Architecture at Texas A&M University, focusing on golf course design. Early in his career, he interned with Dick Nugent Associates, later taking a pivotal role at Hawtree Limited in Oxford, England, where he studied historic British courses. Upon meeting Rees Jones during the Oxfordshire Golf Club construction, Weisser joined Jones’s firm in 1991. Over three decades, he has contributed to the design and renovation of more than 55 major golf projects across the United States and internationally—including standout courses like TPC Danzante Bay (Mexico), Kohanaiki (Hawaii), The Breakers Ocean Course (Florida), and Galloping Hill (New Jersey). Weisser is a regular member of both the American Society of Golf Course Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects, and is renowned for unique shaping and design strategies that integrate modern playability with classic golf traditions.
