Thad Layton is a seasoned golf course architect known for his work creating hand-crafted golf courses around the world. For over 20 years, he contributed his expertise at the Arnold Palmer Design Company, ultimately serving as Senior Golf Course Architect and Vice President. Layton has played a central role in designing and renovating dozens of courses, prioritizing playability and sustainability in his work. Notable projects include leading renovations at iconic venues such as Pebble Beach and building courses in locations from Scotland to China, Brazil, and Uruguay. Inspired by a lifelong love of golf—cultivated on his local municipal course and through constant sketching and reimagining of layouts—Layton is committed to enhancing golf's enjoyment for players of all abilities. In 2023, after APDC folded, Layton founded his own firm, Thad Layton Design, continuing his creative and innovative approach as one of the game's respected modern architects.
