Todd Eckenrode is a highly respected American golf course architect known for his dedication to both new course design and the restoration of classic Golden Era layouts. Eckenrode's passion for golf began at Pasatiempo Golf Club, a renowned Alister MacKenzie design, where he developed an appreciation for classical architecture. A competitive amateur golfer, Eckenrode played collegiate golf at the University of Arizona and UC Santa Barbara, where he earned a B.A. before completing a B.S. in Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. In 1995, he became Senior Designer at Gary Roger Baird Design and in 1999 founded Todd Eckenrode – Origins Golf Design. His breakout project was Barona Creek Golf Club in San Diego County, widely acclaimed and recipient of major accolades. Eckenrode is noted for thoughtful, ecologically sensitive renovations at prestigious California clubs like Brentwood CC and Lakeside GC, and is celebrated for applying classic design principles and sustainable water use in his work.
