Tyler Rae spent six months in Kennebunkport, Maine, working on projects for Tom Doak and Bruce Hepner, and spent his Sundays touring and studying over 40 historic courses in Massachusetts to build his design knowledge and professional network.

Tyler Rae is a respected American golf course architect known for his passion for classic design and careful restoration of historic courses. A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Rae has been immersed in golf both as a player and designer from a young age. Early in his career, he apprenticed under renowned architects, including Ron Prichard and Keith Foster, and worked for celebrated names like Coore & Crenshaw and Tom Doak, allowing him to hone his expertise in blending tradition with innovative construction. Since 1998, Rae has built a strong independent practice, recognized for notable new designs and renovations at clubs like Wakonda Club in Iowa, Atlantic Golf Club in New York, and Detroit Golf Club, which hosts the PGA TOUR’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. Celebrated as one of Golf Digest’s 'Best Young Architects,' Rae’s work is marked by a commitment to preserving architectural heritage and creating engaging, sustainable golf experiences.
