Marvin M. "Vinny" Giles III is an acclaimed American amateur golfer and influential golf figure, notably recognized for his enduring legacy both on and off the course. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1943, Giles had a decorated amateur career—winning the U.S. Amateur (1972), British Amateur (1975), and U.S. Senior Amateur, a feat matched by only one other golfer. He played on four Walker Cup teams and captained the victorious 1993 squad, as well as three winning Eisenhower Trophy teams. Giles competed in 11 major championships and was regularly the low amateur at both the Masters and U.S. Open. Beyond playing, Giles built a successful sports management firm, representing multiple PGA Tour stars. He was instrumental in the design and vision of Kinloch Golf Club in Virginia, partnering as a design consultant and club founder. His leadership in various golf associations and Hall of Fame inductions highlight his impact on American golf.
