Wendell Pickett is a respected golf course architect known for his innovative work in designing golf courses that appeal to a wide range of players. A long-time member of Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, Pickett made his golf design debut with Bill Brownlee at Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club, where they created the acclaimed Li’l Wick short course. Building on that success, Pickett co-designed 'No. 7 at Desert Mountain,' an 18-hole par-three layout opened in 2019. This course is recognized for its versatility, providing challenges for serious golfers while remaining highly accessible and enjoyable for beginners and families. No. 7 at Desert Mountain stands out as one of the few USGA-rated par-3 courses in the country and has been ranked among America's top short courses. Pickett’s approach focuses on crafting courses that enhance the golfer’s experience and community engagement, marking him as an influential figure in the rising trend of short courses at golf communities.
