Course Report

Some of the bunkers on Pacific Dunes are so steep and deep that they have stairs to enter and exit them, and some holes offer two separate greens to choose from.

About

Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is a world-renowned links course designed by Tom Doak, set atop rugged Oregon coastline with dramatic Pacific Ocean views. The course, routed through vast sandy dunes and native grasses, blends natural beauty and architectural mastery, delivering strategic challenges and breathtaking holes that capture the unique essence of seaside golf.

Caddie Tip

Trust the wind and club up more than you think on all holes near the ocean, as gusts can turn an easy approach into a missed green. On the 13th hole, favor the left side for safety, but don’t get greedy—anything right risks a steep drop or lost ball. Keep shots low and controlled throughout the round.

The Main Challenge

The toughest challenge is handling the unpredictable coastal wind, which can switch direction and intensity from hole to hole. Several holes run along cliffs with narrow landing areas and rugged bunkers, demanding precise ball striking and smart, adaptive club selection at all times.

The Good

Golfers love the authentic links experience, blending natural sand dunes, ocean vistas, and creative strategic options into every hole. The firm, fast conditions and variety of shot-making required impress even the most seasoned players, creating a memorable and scenic challenge that stands apart in the U.S.

The Not So Good

Golfers most often mention wind as a potential frustration, and the course is walk-only, which can challenge those with mobility issues. Some wish for gentler recovery options around greens, as deep native rough and steep bunkering can be unforgiving for higher handicaps.

Signature Hole:

#

13

No items found.

The 13th hole at Pacific Dunes is an awe-inspiring par 4 that hugs the bluff above the Pacific Ocean. With a fairway that undulates naturally alongside the cliffs and a green framed by fescue, wind and scenery combine to test nerve and precision. It's revered for both its panoramic views and its demand for smart strategy off the tee.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The Pacific Dunes clubhouse features ocean-view dining, a well-stocked pro shop, premium locker rooms, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoy upscale food, drinks, and outstanding service before and after their rounds.

Practice Facilities

Bandon Dunes offers a sprawling, 50-acre Practice Center with two full grass ranges oriented in opposite directions, a massive putting green, and multiple short-game areas for bunker, pitch, and wedge work. Charlotte’s 9‑hole par‑3 course sits alongside the range, letting players simulate on-course approaches before or after a round. Near the main lodge, the Punchbowl, an enormous, wildly contoured putting course that provides a social, lighted venue for inventive putting games and after‑dinner matches, echoing the feel of a fun, miniature links. Collectively, the facilities let serious golfers grind and buddies’ trips unwind in equal measure.
