Course Report

Guests at the on-site villas or resort cottages receive temporary club membership access, making this one of the most exclusive semi-private experiences in New England.

About

Boothbay Harbor Country Club offers 18 meticulously maintained holes set against Maine’s coastal beauty. Redesigned in 2014 by architect Bruce Hepner, the course combines strategic variety, modern aesthetics, and natural elevation changes. Featuring a luxurious clubhouse, coastal views, and exclusive stay-and-play options, BHCC provides a quintessential Maine golf experience attracting both serious players and leisure seekers.

Caddie Tip

Keep an eye on subtle uphill and downhill lies throughout the round. With ocean breezes affecting shot shape and club selection, stay disciplined in your approach—especially on exposed holes. Precision and club control on and around firm greens will be rewarded, so play conservatively off the tee and trust the reads.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Boothbay Harbor CC lies in managing elevation changes and adapting to frequent coastal winds. Approach shots to raised greens place a premium on club selection, and well-bunkered fairways reward precision and course management. Fast, undulating greens require a deft touch to save par.

The Good

Golfers rave about Boothbay’s pristine course conditions and exceptional service levels, from the attentive staff to on-course amenities. The clubhouse and dining options, combined with dramatic vistas of Maine’s forests and tidal inlets, create a luxurious yet welcoming feel. Many regulars say it's the closest thing to a true private club experience in a resort setting.

The Not So Good

While most reviews are exceptionally positive, players sometimes wish for greater public access without resort stay, as availability is largely tied to villa and cottage bookings. During peak summer, pace can slow during busy weekends, and coastal fog occasionally impacts morning tee times.
