Course Report

The Bay Course features some olive trees that date back centuries and has an earth-sheltered clubhouse seamlessly blending into the natural landscape.

About

The Bay Course at Costa Navarino, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 2011, is a seaside 18-hole layout offering scenic views of Navarino Bay and the surrounding landscape. Blending coastal, canyon, and grove environments, the par-71 course showcases memorable holes along the water and through olive groves, making it one of Greece’s premier resort golf experiences.

Caddie Tip

Distance control and club selection are crucial, especially on the seaside holes exposed to coastal winds. Take extra care with the approach on hole 4; a conservative play may prevent a big number. For first-time players, pay attention to the subtle slopes of greens cut into ancient terrain and read putts carefully.

The Main Challenge

The most demanding aspects stem from the wind-exposed coastal holes and tight approach angles near the water, requiring accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The multi-environment layout means golfers must constantly adjust to changes in terrain, wind, and elevation, with greens that often feature subtle, hard-to-read breaks.

The Good

Golfers universally praise the breathtaking sea views found on much of the course, with 80% of holes offering dramatic vistas over Navarino Bay. The routing seamlessly moves through different natural environments, providing variety and constant visual appeal. The layout’s integration with ancient olive groves and the Ionian coastline enhances the sense of place.

The Not So Good

Some players wish the course’s yardage was increased from its relatively short maximum. Occasional reports mention firm fairways or inconsistent green speeds at peak season, and certain inland holes are seen as less dramatic compared to the standout seaside stretch.

Signature Hole:

#

4

Clubhouse

The clubhouse is a sustainability-focused, earth-sheltered building with panoramic views of Navarino Bay. Amenities include high-end locker rooms, golf shop, elegant restaurant, bar, and relaxation terraces. The contemporary design blends into the landscape and provides golfers with comfortable pre/post-round spaces and scenic social areas.
