Course Report

Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club has hosted the Mayakoba Golf Classic OHL PGA TOUR eleven times and features pyramidal stone landscaping as a tribute to ancient Mayan civilization.

About

Designed by Paul Dye, Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club is a challenging 18-hole, par-72 resort course set in Mexico's Riviera Maya. Featuring dramatic elevation changes, limestone features, lush tropical terrain, and signature railroad tie bunkers, the course hosts PGA Tour events and offers all-inclusive green fees with food, drinks, cart, and range balls. Known for tournament-quality conditions and a true test for golfers of all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

Be cautious with club selection and shot placement on holes with elevation changes, especially the blind shots. Favor accuracy over distance and pay close attention to pin positions on approach shots, as elevated greens and railroad tie bunkers demand strategic positioning.

The Main Challenge

Navigating the elevation changes and limestone features is the toughest aspect—blind tee shots, strategically placed bunkers, and complex green complexes demand disciplined shot selection. Wind conditions and dense tropical rough further heighten the challenge, especially on the closing stretch.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the architectural drama—elevation changes, railroad tie bunkers, and lush tropical terrain combine for a memorable round. The all-inclusive food and beverage service throughout the round adds to overall enjoyment, making it exceptionally convenient and relaxing for guests.

The Not So Good

Many visitors mention that walking is practically impossible since carts are mandatory, reducing flexibility for players who prefer to walk. Some guests note that summer rains can occasionally impact course playability, and on busy days, pace of play may be slower due to resort guest volume.
