About
Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, designed by Dave Thomas and Paul Thomas, is a private 18-hole championship course built to international standards. Located north of Moscow along Pestovo Reservoir, it offers a challenging, varied layout amidst forest and open countryside. The club is known for luxurious facilities including a clubhouse, yacht club, and recreation amenities, targeting an exclusive membership.
Caddie Tip
Play conservatively on the heavily bunkered approaches, as the course tests accuracy off the tee with a mix of open and wooded holes. Pay attention to wind off the Pestovo Reservoir and use conservative club selection for safer layups. Greens are quick and undulating; pace your putts carefully, especially when above the hole.
The Main Challenge
Pestovo’s challenge lies chiefly in its championship length, frequent doglegs, and expertly placed bunkers which require smart club selection and course management. The greens are fast and contoured, making two-putts no guarantee, especially under tournament conditions or windy weather from the adjacent reservoir.
The Good
Golfers especially enjoy the tranquil countryside ambiance unique to Pestovo, removed from city life but with luxury amenities and views over the reservoir. The varied routing keeps play interesting, and the high level of maintenance and conditioning is routinely praised by members.
The Not So Good
Non-members note occasional difficulties securing guest access and spotty English communication among staff. Course drainage may be tested after heavy rain, and pace of play can slow during busy member tournament days.
