Course Report

Setouchi Golf Resort features a massive 240-degree outdoor deck offering breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea and its many islands, making it renowned for its panoramic scenery and frequent sunset events.

About

Setouchi Golf Resort, designed by Chohei Miyazawa and opened in 2001, is a stunning seaside course with panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea from every hole. The layout offers strategic undulations, water hazards, and generous fairways, harmonized with the area's natural beauty, while its on-course villas and scenic terraces provide a luxurious golfing retreat.

Caddie Tip

Aim to keep your drives controlled, especially on holes exposed to seaside winds. Approach shots should target safe areas short of trouble, as subtle elevation changes and greenside bunkering can punish misjudged distance. Consult local yardages; the seaside wind can significantly affect ball flight, particularly on open holes near the water.

The Main Challenge

The main challenge lies in gauging approach shots on sloping fairways with sea breezes that can dramatically alter club selection. Water hazards and strategically placed bunkers particularly test golfers’ accuracy, especially on longer par 4s and finishing holes overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.

The Good

Golfers especially love the panoramic ocean views from every hole, which are consistently described as some of the most beautiful in Japan. The modern, spacious clubhouse and on-course villas make it an ideal setting for a relaxed and memorable golf trip, with warm hospitality elevating the overall experience.

The Not So Good

Players sometimes note that weekend pace of play can be slow due to popularity, and the undulating layout can make walking challenging for some. Greens tend to be moderately paced but may soften during wetter periods, slightly affecting putting consistency.
