Course Report

Streamsong Black is known for having some of the largest greens in the world, with putting surfaces more than double the average size, making three-putts common even for skilled players.

About

Streamsong Black, designed by acclaimed architect Gil Hanse, opened in 2017 and features a dramatic, modern layout with massive greens, bold contours, and panoramic views of central Florida’s unique terrain. The course offers strategic options and a firm, fast playing experience, consistently ranked among the top 30 resort courses in the US.

Caddie Tip

Pay close attention to pin locations and the immense green complexes—landing on the wrong section can easily lead to three or four putts. Use local knowledge to approach greens from the best angle, and factor firm, fast turf into your shot selection on every hole.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge is managing the gigantic, undulating greens and their multi-tiered surfaces. Approach shots must be precise to avoid daunting long putts, and the ever-present wind amplifies the test. Recovery from huge bunkers and navigating firm fairways requires creativity.

The Good

Golfers love the bold architecture, expansive vistas, and strategic variety this Gil Hanse design provides. The massive putting surfaces and firm, fast conditions create a thrilling and distinctive links-style experience that stands out in Florida’s golf landscape. The world-class practice amenities and modern clubhouse are also favorites.

The Not So Good

Some players feel the green complexes are excessively large, leading to frequent long putts and potential slow play. The walk from green to tee on several holes can be lengthy, and the exposed layout offers little shelter from wind or sun.

Signature Hole:

#

18

No items found.

The 18th is a par 5 that provides a dramatic finish with a risk-reward approach. A large lake guards the green, tempting bold players to reach in two, but water and sand await errant shots. Its scale, strategy, and natural beauty combine for a memorable closing challenge.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The contemporary clubhouse includes guest rooms, a full golf shop, excellent dining options, conference rooms, and expansive terraces with views of the course. Service is attentive, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed yet refined—ideal for post-round relaxation or events.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Practice amenities are outstanding, featuring a two-acre putting course 'the Gauntlet', a unique 7-hole practice area, and a spacious range. Warm-up, short game, and putting facilities are maintained to the highest standards and cater to all levels.
