Course Report

TPC Sugarloaf occupies land that was once an award-winning pure-bred cattle and horse farm belonging to the Rollins family and opened just weeks after a tornado hit the course.

About

TPC Sugarloaf is a private, 27-hole course designed by Greg Norman, part of the acclaimed TPC Network in the upscale Sugarloaf Country Club community. It features championship-level parkland-style golf with tree-lined Bermuda fairways, strategic water hazards, and smooth Bentgrass greens. The course is known for hosting PGA TOUR and Champions Tour events and its welcoming, high-end amenities.

Caddie Tip

Pay close attention to the undulating Bentgrass greens, which break more than they appear. On the 18th, favor the right side off the tee to avoid the water. Most holes reward smart placement over distance, especially during tournament conditions when rough is long and fast greens demand a deft touch.

The Main Challenge

The toughest aspect of TPC Sugarloaf is its combination of length, penal rough, and water hazards, especially on finishing holes. The 18th hole in particular presents a challenging tee shot alongside water, while several holes require precision approaches to elevated and well-protected greens.

The Good

Golfers love the outstanding conditioning of the Bentgrass greens and the overall challenge of a layout that tests both pros and amateurs. The experience of playing a PGA TOUR-caliber course, combined with friendly service and an upscale, welcoming atmosphere, makes TPC Sugarloaf a favorite among members.

The Not So Good

While the course is well-maintained, some members and guests have noted slow pace of play during busy event weeks and on weekends. Additionally, the tree-lined layout can cause recovery shots to be nearly impossible, adding to difficulty for less experienced players.
