About

Bobby Clampett is the first PGA Tour winner to earn the PGA’s highest instructor level, Master Professional in Teaching and Coaching.

Bobby Clampett is an influential figure in golf, notable as a PGA Tour winner, renowned instructor, author, broadcaster, and golf course architect. Born in Monterey, California, Clampett’s early talent led to an outstanding amateur career, including honors as low amateur at both the U.S. Open and Masters while still a teenager, and winning multiple prestigious amateur titles. He attended Brigham Young University, earning three-time All-American status and two Collegiate Golfer of the Year awards before turning professional in 1980. Clampett played 396 PGA Tour events from 1980 to 1996, notching victories such as the 1982 Southern Open and later competed on the Champions Tour. He is highly respected for his innovative "Impact-Based®" teaching philosophy, published in his acclaimed book "The Impact Zone." Clampett also joined CBS Sports as an on-course reporter and later became a full-time broadcaster. His contributions to golf course design complement his legacy as a Master Professional in Teaching and Coaching—a distinction marking him as the first PGA Tour winner to achieve this status.
