Hubert Green was a celebrated American professional golfer and golf course architect, renowned for his competitive tenacity and contributions to the sport. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Green enjoyed a distinguished playing career, notching 19 PGA Tour victories, including two majors: the 1977 U.S. Open and the 1985 PGA Championship. His amateur successes included multiple titles at the Southern Amateur and Alabama State Amateur, and a fourth-place finish at the 1968 U.S. Amateur earned him a coveted spot in the 1969 Masters as an amateur. While best known for his professional achievements on the course, Green also contributed to golf through course design, lending his experience and insight to layouts such as the TPC Southwind and collaborating on other projects.
