Course Report

TPC Southwind has hosted a professional PGA TOUR event every year since 1989, including the prestigious FedEx St. Jude Championship, making it one of the Tour’s longest running host venues.

About

TPC Southwind is a premier private golf club in southeast Memphis, Tennessee, designed by Ron Prichard with PGA TOUR players Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller as consultants. The par-70, 7,244-yard course features tour-level conditioning and hosts the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Set within a gated community, it boasts full amenities including a large clubhouse, tennis, pool, and fitness center.

Caddie Tip

The most important advice for first-timers is to favor accuracy over length off the tee—many holes penalize wayward drives with water hazards or thick Bermuda rough. Pay special attention to pin placements and be wary of subtle breaks on the fast, Tour-caliber greens.

The Main Challenge

Water comes into play on over half the holes, and the thick Bermuda rough, narrow fairways, and undulating greens create a stern test, even for elite players. The layout demands both precision and strategic planning; missing fairways or greens can quickly lead to big numbers.

The Good

Golfers love the world-class conditions and the challenge of playing a true PGA TOUR venue. The finishing stretch, especially holes 14–18, provides an exciting, risk-reward test and spectacular setting for tournament drama rarely matched by other courses in the region.

The Not So Good

Some golfers mention that the tough rough and water hazards on many holes can slow down pace of play and make the course punishing for higher handicaps. Access is strictly limited to members and their guests, so non-members wishing to play may be disappointed by the lack of public access.
