About

Fuzzy Zoeller is one of only three golfers ever to win the Masters Tournament in his first appearance.

Frank Urban “Fuzzy” Zoeller Jr. is widely recognized as both a major championship-winning golfer and an influential golf course architect. Born in Indiana, Zoeller’s professional golfing career took off when he became one of only three players to win the Masters in their debut appearance, claiming victory at Augusta National in 1979. He further cemented his legacy with a U.S. Open win in 1984. Beyond his playing success, Zoeller transitioned into course architecture, shaping the golfing landscape of Southern Indiana. Notable among his designs are Covered Bridge Golf Club and Champions Pointe Golf Club, both developed in partnership with architect Clyde Johnston. He also contributed to the design of the Pfau Course at Indiana University and Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, IN, emphasizing beauty, challenge, and enjoyment for golfers of all levels. Zoeller’s work in course architecture is marked by respect for the natural landscape and a commitment to his home state’s golfing heritage.
