About

Peter Harradine designed the first grass golf courses in both Qatar and Abu Dhabi—Doha Golf Club and Abu Dhabi Golf Club—transforming golf in the Middle East.

Peter Harradine is one of Europe’s most prolific golf course architects, personally designing or co-designing over 160 courses and supervising the construction or remodelling of more than 200 courses across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Born into a family of golf course designers dating back to 1920, Harradine began working on golf construction projects as a child, gaining hands-on experience under his father's guidance. After studying landscape and golf course design in the United States in the mid-1960s, he joined and later led the family business. Notably, Harradine was instrumental in introducing grass golf courses to the Middle East, designing landmark clubs such as Doha Golf Club in Qatar and Abu Dhabi Golf Club. He has also held notable positions as President of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects and the European Society of Golf Course Architects, and is recognized for seamlessly adapting layouts to diverse terrains and climates, from deserts to mountains.
