About
Peter Nordwall is among the few modern architects openly willing to design a completely blind par three hole, demonstrating his commitment to bold and unique golf course architecture.
Peter Nordwall is a respected Swedish golf course architect celebrated for his significant impact on Nordic golf design. Beginning his golf career as both a player and an influential course architect, Nordwall has contributed to the landscape of golf in Sweden and neighboring countries since at least the 1970s. As an apprentice to Nils Sköld, he gained early experience at Stockholm Golf Club, where he later served on the board and course committee for more than 30 years. Nordwall is best known for designing prominent courses like Bro-Bålsta and Svartinge in Sweden, with Svartinge earning a reputation as one of the country’s finest private clubs. His design approach favors bold, naturalistic features and strategic layout, sometimes embracing riskier choices such as blind par threes if they enhance the player’s experience. In addition to Swedish projects, his portfolio includes courses abroad, such as Losby Golfklubb in Norway. Nordwall’s work remains admired for its innovation and its lasting influence on Scandinavian golf.
