About

Philip Spogárd is one of only ten golf course architects worldwide to have won the prestigious TORO Student Golf Course Architect Award.

Philip Spogárd is a distinguished golf course architect and the principal of Spogárd & VanderVaart. With degrees in both Law and Landscape Architecture, he graduated as the top student in the EIGCA’s (European Institute of Golf Course Architects) two-year education program and is one of only ten architects worldwide to win the prestigious TORO Student Golf Course Architect Award. Spogárd’s career spans various international projects, allowing him to study and work on some of the world’s top golf courses and gain a deep understanding of golf culture and design philosophy. He is particularly celebrated for his work on the renovation of Ålands Golf Club’s Castle course, which he envisioned as a potential top 25 course in Europe. His passion for golf extends beyond design—he is a keen player himself—and his work is known for creatively integrating natural landscapes into memorable golf experiences.
