Randy Heckenkemper began his career as a celebrated all-city quarterback in Tulsa before becoming one of the most prolific golf course architects in the desert southwest.

Randy Heckenkemper is a renowned American golf course architect who has significantly shaped the landscape of golf design since the 1980s. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1958, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Oklahoma State University. Starting his career with Poe and Associates on the Jack Nicklaus and Associates team, Heckenkemper developed his skills before joining forces with Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish in 1983 to coordinate several nationally recognized courses. In 1985, he founded Heckenkemper Golf Course Design, combining technical expertise with a passion for creating both challenging and player-friendly golf experiences. Over his career, he has designed or remodeled more than 40 courses across the United States, with a special focus on projects in the desert southwest. Many of his designs, including Forest Ridge Golf Club in Oklahoma and Stonebridge Meadows Golf Club in Arkansas, have been honored by Golf Digest for their outstanding quality.
