Rick Jacobson is a prominent American golf course architect and owner of Jacobson Golf Course Design, Inc., established in 1991. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1980 with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Jacobson began his career at Packard, Inc. before working as an assistant designer for Jack Nicklaus Golf Services. Over his more than 35-year career, he has designed new courses and renovated classics in the U.S. and internationally, with a philosophy rooted in responding to the land and enhancing playability. His first 18-hole North American design, Augustine Golf Club in Virginia, was recognized among the best new upscale courses by Golf Digest and is ranked among America's Top 100 public courses. Jacobson’s portfolio includes Bear Trap Dunes, The Club at Strawberry Creek, and Ishioka Golf Club in Japan. He is also respected for restoring renowned historic courses and is known for design fundamentals that prioritize both skill and strategy for players.
