About
Sergio Garcia’s first full solo design project, Aranya International Golf Club in China, features a true links-style layout—unusual and unique for the region and quickly gained acclaim as one of China’s best courses.
Sergio Garcia, born in 1980 in Spain, is celebrated both as one of the finest professional golfers of his generation and as a passionate golf course designer. After a legendary playing career highlighted by winning the 2017 Masters and earning the nickname “El Niño,” Garcia began to channel his experience into golf architecture. He gained his initial exposure to the field as a player consultant for Greg Norman during the AT&T Oaks Course project in San Antonio. His first solo project was the Aranya International Golf Club in China, opened in 2013. Garcia’s approach emphasizes precision and enjoyment over sheer length, carefully fitting each course into the existing terrain and environment. His growing portfolio includes prominent projects in Mexico (Mayakoba Country Club), Portugal (Torre in Comporta), and Bahrain. Garcia remains deeply involved in every phase of each project, aspiring for his designs to provide memorable playing experiences for golfers of all levels.
