Steve Durkee is a prominent Vermont-based golf course architect recognized for his transformative contributions to the golfing landscape of New England. Beginning his career in real estate and land development, Durkee transitioned into golf architecture in the 1990s and earned acclaim with notable projects such as the Green Mountain National Golf Course, Fox Run Golf Club (formerly Okemo Valley Golf Club), Neshobe Country Club, Dorset Field Club, Brattleboro Country Club, and Manchester Country Club. His work on the Dorset Field Club, where he spearheaded an expansion in 1999, and his design of the first heathland-style course in New England at Fox Run, distinguish his portfolio. Durkee’s projects are lauded for their seamless integration with the natural landscape, dramatic elevation changes, and accessible yet challenging designs.
