Course Report

Al Zorah’s layout meanders through more than one million square meters of natural mangrove forest, with tidal changes subtly altering the look and playability of several holes with every round.

About

Al Zorah Golf Club, designed by Nicklaus Design and opened in 2015, offers an 18-hole par 72 championship course set inside a vast mangrove reserve. With tidal changes, water in play, and striking natural beauty, it features strategic bunkering, generous fairways, and undulating greens, all with Platinum Paspalum surfaces and world-class Troon management.

Caddie Tip

Play conservative lines off the tee, especially on the back nine where water hazards tighten fairways. The greens are large and contoured—aim to stay below the hole on approach shots for the best chance at a two-putt, and trust the speed as greens are usually quick but true.

The Main Challenge

The main challenge at Al Zorah stems from frequent water hazards and mangrove areas, especially on the back nine. Tight landing areas, strategic bunkering, and undulating greens demand precision. Wind from the coastline can also shift quickly, affecting club selection and shot shape on exposed holes.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise Al Zorah for its ever-changing natural beauty, particularly the interplay of the course with the surrounding mangroves and tidal water. Many enjoy the tranquility, strong variety of holes, and the signature 6th and 15th, which highlight the coastal setting and strategic design.

The Not So Good

Golfer feedback most often highlights inconsistent pace of play on weekends, limited shaded areas on the course for hot days, and the relative newness of landscaping outside the playing corridors, which can feel unfinished until further maturation.

6

The par-3 6th is Al Zorah’s signature, demanding a tee shot across a shimmering lagoon to a peninsula green surrounded by mangroves. This hole’s angled approach, water carry, and shifting winds provide both a memorable challenge and remarkable coastal scenery, testing both accuracy and nerve.
