Course Report

Bahia Beach is the first and only course in Puerto Rico to achieve Audubon International’s Silver Signature Sanctuary certification, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship and wildlife habitat preservation.

About

Bahia Beach Golf Course, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design opened in 2008, is renowned for its lush setting within a 483-acre nature reserve and 15 water-adjacent holes. Managed by Troon Golf, the par-72 resort course features undulating fairways, tropical scenery with ocean views, and strategic challenges. It is Audubon Silver Signature Certified for eco-conscious maintenance.

Caddie Tip

Play conservatively off the tee on holes where water guards fairways, as risks abound on errant shots. Pay special attention to ocean breezes, especially on the closing stretch. Greens tend to run fast and true, so favor below-the-hole approaches. Bring plenty of golf balls for 15 water-in-play holes.

The Main Challenge

The toughest part of Bahia Beach is the persistent presence of water hazards, especially on holes routed near the lakes and on the windy, ocean-side finishing holes. Narrow landing areas and breezy coastal conditions demand accurate shot placement and smart course management throughout the round.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the impeccable conditioning, serene setting among coconut palms and lakes, and the dramatic finish along the Atlantic coast. The blend of challenging shot values with natural scenery makes rounds both visually and strategically rewarding, providing a true escape into Puerto Rico’s coastal beauty.

The Not So Good

Golfers note that the course can become quite wet and cart-path-only after rain due to its low-lying, water-rich environment. Occasional slow play during busy resort periods is reported, and some mention that tee time availability is restricted to resort guests, limiting outside access.
