Course Report
Boot Ranch's Practice Park spans 34 acres, reputed as the largest and one of the top 50 private golf ranges in the nation.
About
Boot Ranch Golf Club is a private, highly acclaimed golf course designed by PGA legend Hal Sutton, opened in 2005. Located north of Fredericksburg, Texas, it features a challenging par-71 layout over 7,155 yards with TifEagle Bermuda greens, enhanced by a major renovation in 2017. It is renowned for its extensive 34-acre Practice Park, one of Texas's largest.
Caddie Tip
Approach the right side on the 18th tee shot to avoid the large bunker and take advantage of the downhill slope to the left, setting up a shorter iron into a green sloping toward the back; overshooting the green is a common risk to avoid.
The Main Challenge
The toughest challenge at Boot Ranch lies in its strategic bunker placement combined with sloping fairways and greens, especially on the finishing holes like #18, demanding precision tee shots and delicate iron play to avoid hazards and tricky green contours.
The Good
Golfers love Boot Ranch for its seamless blend of challenge and playability across its varied terrain, alongside the stunning Hill Country setting and the outstanding 34-acre Practice Park, which offers exceptional practice and training opportunities.
The Not So Good
Some golfers report that the exclusivity and private-only access limit broader play experiences, and occasionally mention that bunker positioning can be unforgiving, with a desire for slight adjustments to improve fairness on risk-reward shots.
Signature Hole:
#
18
The signature 18th hole is a subtle dogleg right presenting strategic challenges with a large bunker guarding the right fairway corner. The right side is favored due to incline and slope towards the left. It is a par 4, requiring smart tee shot placement to set up a precise iron approach to a green sloping to the back, prone to overshooting.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse provides electric car charging for Tesla vehicles, locker rooms, a pro shop, and social spaces for members, supporting a multi-generational membership with tournaments and events.
Practice Facilities
Features an expansive 34-acre Practice Park with a large driving range, chipping areas, and multiple putting greens, ranked nationally as one of the top private practice facilities in Texas.
