Course Report

Cosmos Links is built on a narrow 1.83 km long, 400 m wide tract and features approximately 365 bunkers, making every round a unique challenge reminiscent of the world's most famous links courses.

About

Cosmos Links, founded by President Young and designed by Tom Doak, is an innovative 18-hole public course in Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, South Korea finished in 2022,. Inspired by traditional links architecture, it offers more than 350 bunkers, firm fescue-lined fairways, and dramatic topography. The course appeals to all skill levels and is lauded for its modern clubhouse and scenic rural setting.

Caddie Tip

Navigating Cosmos Links successfully means carefully plotting your course around its vast array of deep bunkers. Favor conservative targets off the tee unless you're highly confident with irons. Approach shots should avoid any forced carries over sand, especially when the wind is up. Study your yardages; uneven fairways can release balls toward hazards unexpectedly.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge of Cosmos Links is avoiding its myriad deep bunkers, which lie in wait on nearly every shot from tee to green. Crosswinds often come into play, and the firmness of the fescue-clad fairways demands strategic placement. Errant shots can be both severely punished and surprisingly rewarded by unexpected bounces.

The Good

Golfers love Cosmos Links for its authentic links-style feel, rare in Asia, and the challenge of negotiating hundreds of unique bunkers scattered across the landscape. Wide fairways, fast fescue terrain, and the ever-present wind deliver a dynamic round where every shot counts and local adjustments are always required.

The Not So Good

While the variety and quantity of bunkers create a memorable experience, some golfers report that the course can feel unfinished in spots, with a shortage of mature trees and sparse landscaping. Drainage can be affected during the rainy season, and the firm turf may be inconsistent until the course fully matures over the next few years.
