Course Report
Dub's Dread once had the longest golf course in the world and was named a Top 10 course in Kansas by Golf Digest in 1996.
About
Dub's Dread Golf Club is an established public course designed in 1964, celebrated for its historic Kansas City layout, towering trees, and challenging doglegs. It has hosted legendary players including Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. The course offers 18 holes of classic parkland golf, strong greens, and a welcoming environment for all skill levels.
Caddie Tip
Positioning off the tee is crucial—many holes are best played from the fairway center due to tall, old-growth trees and sharp doglegs. Conservative play on the long par 4s and accurate approach shots will help score well, especially on deep greens that challenge distance control.
The Main Challenge
Dub's Dread is known for its demanding par 4s, wide fairways guarded by tall mature trees, and doglegs that reward smart shot placement. Navigating the length of the course, especially on windy days, and reading the quick, well-kept greens represent the toughest challenges for even skilled golfers.
The Good
Golfers love the classic parkland design highlighted by wide, sloping fairways and mature, tree-lined corridors. The historic atmosphere, where legends played, and well-kept greens create a memorable playing experience. Many enjoy the variety of holes and the challenge that keeps repeat play interesting.
The Not So Good
Some golfers find pace of play slows during peak weekend times. Recent aeration and ongoing maintenance can affect green speed and condition. Customer service and communication around course work or rain check policies could be more transparent to enhance player satisfaction.
