Course Report

The course is perched on a 300-foot cliff, offering rare panoramic views of both the Atlantic Ocean and El Yunque Rain Forest, and is one of the only courses in Puerto Rico with such distinct elevation changes.

About

El Conquistador Resort's Arthur Hills Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout featuring dramatic elevation changes across 200 feet. Designed by Arthur Hills and established in 1993, it boasts panoramic Atlantic Ocean and El Yunque Rain Forest views. Known for its challenging slopes, ocean breezes, and immaculate conditions, it provides a memorable, picturesque experience for guests of the renowned resort.

Caddie Tip

Prevailing winds from the Atlantic can strongly affect your club selection, especially on elevated holes. Play for extra club into the breeze on uphill approaches and use course yardage markers carefully; local knowledge advises aiming away from ocean-facing hazards for safer play on the back nine.

The Main Challenge

The combination of steep elevation changes, prevailing coastal winds, and narrow landing areas demands precision and adaptability on almost every shot. Water features and deep bunkers test players’ accuracy, while constantly changing wind direction, especially on the back nine, increases the difficulty for all skill levels.

The Good

Golfers rave about the dramatic views from every hole, especially the panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean and El Yunque Rain Forest. The 200 feet of elevation change creates exciting shot opportunities and a memorable, scenic journey. The resort’s amenities, with attentive staff and excellent practice facilities, make it a favorite Caribbean golf destination.

The Not So Good

Some players note inconsistent bunker conditions and occasional slow pace of play during busy resort periods. The course’s winds and elevation can present a steep challenge for beginners, leading some to wish for more forgiving layouts or additional guidance for first-time resort guests.
