Course Report

Golf Club Milano is located entirely within one of Europe's largest walled city parks and has hosted the Italian Open at least nine times, including famous victories and dramatic play-off duels.

About

A venerable parkland course designed by James Peter Gannon within Parco di Monza, Golf Club Milano boasts 27 holes threading between mature woodland. Known for hosting multiple Italian Opens and with a classic, tree-lined routing, the club features meticulously conditioned fairways, pristine greens, and an illustrious clubhouse. It ranks among Italy’s most prestigious and historic courses.

Caddie Tip

Take time to study the green contours—many are subtly bowl-shaped or tiered, making distance control critical. Avoid missing the greens on the short side, as recovery shots can be challenging from deep rough or trees. Tee shots tend to reward players who keep to the preferred side for the best approach.

The Main Challenge

The toughest challenge comes from navigating the narrow, tree-lined fairways that demand precision on every drive. Greens are fast and subtly contoured, while the thick rough punishes errant shots. Several holes require strategic course management and accurate long irons into well-protected greens.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the lush, natural setting inside the historical Parco di Monza, with holes lined by ancient oaks and cedars providing a tranquil, private feel. The conditioning, particularly the fast, true greens, combined with an elegant, atmospheric clubhouse deeply rooted in Italian golfing tradition, create a uniquely refined experience.

The Not So Good

The primary drawbacks cited by visitors are occasional slow play during peak times, especially on weekends, and some find the proximity to the Monza autodrome (F1 racetrack) means noise can intrude on a few holes. Others mention that the mostly flat terrain yields little dramatic topography.
