Course Report

Greywolf's Cliffhanger 6th is one of the most photographed par 3s in Canada, famed for its jaw-dropping elevation and cliffside green.

About

Greywolf Golf Course, designed by renowned Canadian architect Doug Carrick, is a celebrated mountain golf destination nestled at Panorama Mountain Resort in British Columbia. Known for its dramatic elevation changes, bentgrass fairways, and the stunning par-3 Cliffhanger hole, Greywolf offers breathtaking scenery, strategic design, and a true alpine golf experience recognized among Canada’s best public courses.

Caddie Tip

Keep tee shots below the hole on most greens—putting from above can be treacherous on fast, sloping bentgrass. For the signature 6th, allow extra club for the swirling mountain wind and favor the center, as short or right risks a dramatic drop. Approach shots often play shorter due to elevation changes, so factor this into club selection throughout the round.

The Main Challenge

Greywolf’s toughest tests are its demanding approach shots and the elevation changes that complicate club selection. The high mountain winds can alter ball flight, while undulating greens require touch and reading ability. The course's signature holes are both visually intimidating and require confident execution under pressure.

The Good

Golfers rave about the dramatic mountain setting and the variety of breathtaking holes, with each shot framed by alpine vistas and towering peaks. The par-3s, especially the famous Cliffhanger hole, leave a lasting impression, and the course maintains exceptional conditions throughout the season. The memorable layout and sense of seclusion enhance the overall experience.

The Not So Good

Many golfers note the difficulty of walking the course due to significant elevation changes—power carts are almost essential except for the most athletic players. Some mention that slow play can be an issue during peak season, and the distance from major cities makes planning logistics important for a day trip.
