Course Report

Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course was restored in 1994, using Stanley Thompson’s original blueprints to return bunkers and tees to their historic layouts.

About

Set in Jasper National Park, Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course is an iconic mountain golf experience designed in 1925 by Stanley Thompson. Renowned for its stunning views, elevated tee boxes, and wide fairways, the course features 18 holes of strategic play blended seamlessly with natural alpine beauty, regularly topping Canadian golf rankings.

Caddie Tip

Keep approach shots below the hole, as many greens are crowned and difficult to hold if you’re above the pin. On the par 3s, favor the center of the green as edges often slope away. Use mountain vistas as background alignment—most holes subtly break away from major peaks.

The Main Challenge

The toughest part of Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course is negotiating elevated tee shots and the approach to crowned greens, especially on the long par 3s. Accuracy is vital, as many greens shed balls if you miss high. The scenery can distract, and shifting mountain winds often add an extra layer of strategy throughout the round.

The Good

Golfers love Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course for the breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery visible from nearly every hole, the wildlife encounters, and the variety of strategic challenges that are both approachable and stimulating. The course’s natural beauty and sense of tranquility make every round memorable and truly unique.

The Not So Good

Players often comment that the pace of play can slow during peak season and wish for more practice space. Early and late in the season, greens may not always be at their fastest, and some bunkers occasionally show evidence of environmental wear due to mountain weather.

Signature Hole:

#

14

Hole 14 is a par 4 affectionately known as 'The Knoll.' It features an elevated tee shot framed by panoramic Rocky Mountain views. A downhill drive leads to a green well-guarded by bunkers and subtle slopes, demanding precise approach play and offering one of the most memorable vistas on the course.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The clubhouse features a full restaurant and lounge, pro shop, comfortable seating areas, and locker rooms. Guests have access to the Fairmont resort’s amenities, including spa, dining, and lakeside activities. The vibe blends historic charm with modern comfort, with plenty of outdoor patios.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Practice facilities include a medium-sized driving range and putting green with plenty of targets. There are limited short game areas; full-length wedge practice is not available. Pro staff offer private and group lessons, and the Golf Shop has a curated selection of gear and accessories.
