Course Report

The course is situated within a 280-hectare Natura 2000 zone, providing a sanctuary for deer and thousands of birds; it's regarded as one of the purest heathland experiences in continental Europe.

About

Les Aisses Golf Club, designed by Olivier Brizon (1992) and completely renovated by Martin Hawtree in 2011, is an 18-hole par 72 heathland course located in the heart of Sologne. Surrounded by heather, pine, and birch, its British-influenced design features strategic bunkering, water hazards, and large, swift greens, making it one of France's most respected and naturally beautiful golfing experiences.

Caddie Tip

Accuracy from the tee is essential, as many holes are lined with heather and trees, making misplaced drives costly. Pay particular attention to hole positioning on the large, undulating greens and manage risk around water on holes 6 and 8. The course rewards thoughtful strategy and local knowledge.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Les Aisses lies in its well-defended greens and the thick heather that borders many fairways. Precision tee shots are crucial, as straying offline can quickly lead to trouble. Several holes present risk-reward options with water hazards, especially the 6th and 8th, requiring smart course management.

The Good

Golfers especially praise Les Aisses for its natural, heather-lined fairways and its serene, unspoiled setting in the heart of Sologne. The seamless integration with nature creates a peaceful round that is both technically challenging and visually stunning. Many consider it a top destination for heathland golf on the continent.

The Not So Good

Some players mention the need for enhanced on-course signage, especially for first-time visitors unfamiliar with the routing. Additionally, while maintenance is consistently good, a few report that greens can occasionally be overly firm or fast, especially during dry spells. Facilities and hospitality can be limited during off-peak periods.

Signature Hole:

#

6

No items found.

The par 5 6th hole is widely regarded as the signature hole at Les Aisses Golf Club. It features a strong dogleg left, weaving around a large pond that comes into play both off the tee and on approach. Risk-reward options entice longer hitters, while the sloping green and well-placed bunkers demand precision.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The spacious clubhouse is set in a traditional Sologne farmhouse and features luxury locker rooms, a pro shop, and a restaurant with panoramic views of holes 1 and 10. The on-site restaurant and bar provide a relaxing setting before or after your round, and nearby partner hotels offer convenient accommodation options.
