Course Report
It is Pete Dye’s final course design and mirrors Sawgrass’s famous finishing stretch, with a Dye-style island green on 17 and Cape hole on 18.
About
The Links at Perry Cabin is a Pete Dye-designed 18-hole course on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, completed in 2017 as his final project, aided by Alice and P.B. Dye. Stretching over 7,000 yards with bentgrass surfaces, it offers striking Chesapeake Bay views, bunker and water challenges, and closing holes that pay homage to TPC Sawgrass, blending strategic design with beauty.
Caddie Tip
Course management is essential—don’t take unnecessary risks, especially on the closing holes. Play conservatively on 17 and 18, as Dye’s penalties can be dramatic. Keep an extra club for the longer approaches, and don’t get distracted by the Chesapeake Bay views—focus on landing areas and stay below the hole on faster greens.
The Main Challenge
The biggest challenge is negotiating the tight, demanding final stretch known as Pete Dye’s 'goodnight kiss.' The risk-reward 17th island green and bold 18th Cape hole require precise shotmaking and mental toughness, especially in swirling breezes by the water. Course navigation demands smart choices and discipline.
The Good
Golfers rave about the course’s strategic yet fun design, world-class conditioning, and stunning Chesapeake Bay views. The final three 'goodnight kiss' holes are a highlight, testing nerves and skills while providing memorable risk-reward opportunities. The entire experience is heightened by attentive staff and the connection with Dye’s celebrated architectural style.
The Not So Good
The primary complaint is the lack of a proper outdoor driving range; players must settle for indoor simulators, which is unusual for a course of this caliber. Expanded practice facilities, including a full outdoor range, would significantly enhance the pre-round routine for most visiting golfers.
Signature Hole:
#
18
The par-4 18th hole, inspired by Dye’s iconic 'Cape'-style finishing holes, sweeps along the lake’s edge with strategic bunkering and sharp dogleg. Its dramatic risk-reward angle tempts players off the tee, but those who overreach might find themselves farther from the green than they expect. A memorable, nerve-testing closer to the round.
Clubhouse
The modest clubhouse features a well-stocked pro shop and a high-end food truck that serves locally sourced fare. There is no formal restaurant onsite, but the relaxed atmosphere and hospitality are praised. Additional amenities include locker rooms and access to resort facilities at the adjacent Inn at Perry Cabin.
Practice Facilities
While there is no traditional driving range, the club provides 8 indoor simulators for warm-up, a short game area, and a putting green. The short game area allows for pitching and bunker practice. Simulators help prepare, but the absence of an outdoor range limits full pre-round routines.
