Course Report

Lost Rail Golf Club is the first new private club built in the Omaha area in over 25 years and was named the third best new private club in the world by Golf Inc. Magazine in 2023.

About

Lost Rail Golf Club is a private, pure-golf club west of Omaha, Nebraska, designed by Scott Hoffman and developed by Landscapes Unlimited. Opened in 2022, it was crafted on 155 acres of rolling land with wide fairways, dramatic bunkering, and impressive views of the Platte River Valley. The club has a small membership and offers a challenging yet accessible layout with no homes or non-golf amenities.

Caddie Tip

Take advantage of the wide fairways but pay careful attention to hole locations and green contours—the width gives room for strategy, not just comfort. The dramatic elevation changes and ravines require careful club selection and awareness of wind. Approach shots often play shorter than they appear, especially from the expansive fairway angles.

The Main Challenge

Lost Rail’s challenge is built around its dramatic elevation changes, prominent ravines, and strategic bunkering. While forgiving off the tee thanks to wide landing zones, the course demands precision with approaches and smart play on undulating greens. The wind can play a significant factor, especially on exposed holes, amplifying the course's length and shot values.

The Good

Golfers love the pure golf experience and the absence of homes, event spaces, or distractions, focusing entirely on the remarkable course. The wide fairways provide options for all skill levels and the elevated tees offer impressive views across the Platte River Valley, creating a memorable and scenic round from start to finish.

The Not So Good

As the course matures, some golfers have noted areas where turf conditioning will continue to improve with age. A few members have expressed a desire for expanded practice facilities and additional shaded seating areas due to the course's exposed environment on sunny days.
